Gallery: 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Part I

For all that liked the recent Challenger R/T gallery, check out the first part of a two part special on the new Challenger SRT8. The SRT8 is one step above the 370 horsepower R/T for it is equipped with the monstrous 6.1 L Hemi that puts out 425 horsepower (same as rated on the 1970 Hemi Challenger) and 420 lb feet of torque. The Hemi hurtles the car from zero to 60 in 4.9 seconds and squeezes past 170 at the top end. Weighing in at about 2 tons, the Challenger stops from 60 mph in 120 feet thanks to a set of Brembo disc brakes. Don't expect the mpgs to be high as the Hemi sucks the gas down but still manages a decent 14 city 22 highway. Maybe a future superlap lap with the SRT8 and a Shelby is in order?
