Continuing our coverage of SEMA 2006, the beautiful Maylee tells us a little bit about the new TRD limited edition Toyota FJ Cruiser. This limited edition is one of only 4000 and will come in Black only. Included is a TRD roof rack, some heavy duty tires, and some fancy pants angle gauges that tell you how much clearance you have when you are pushing the FJ to its limits.
Powering this off road machine is the same motor used the Tacoma and 4Runner, a 4.0 liter V6 that produces a 239 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque. They are available with a 5 speed automatic or a 6 speed manual, along with either a full time 4wd or part time 4wd system. This limited production TRD Special Edition FJ Cruiser is packed with all the TRD performance parts you could ever want and of course the aesthetics necessary to give your eyes orgasms. Some of these parts include the TRD performance exhaust, TRD air filter, Upgraded suspension components, rock rails, and roof rack. In addition it will sport a black roof instead of the white roof on all current models. 16 inch gun metal rims will replace the original 17 inch ones to allow for a thicker tire. Be sure to get your name on the list for one of these because TRD plans on producing only 4,000 of these TRD Special Edition FJ's.
This retro style compact SUV has caught a lot of attention since its debut in 2006. Its style brings us back to the original FJ40 from the 60’s and its performance did not let us down either. Toyota wanted to compete with the Nissan Xterra, the Hummer H3, and the Jeep Wrangler and in our minds has beat them with flying colors. With prices starting at around $22,000, this sounds like a bargain.
Weighing in at roughly 4,000 pounds, it is actually a lot lighter than we were expecting. This combined with its 4wd should lead to great off-road performance. Its double wishbone front suspension and 4 link rear suspension are shared with the Land Cruiser Prado.
